Saturday Stretch and Sip
Flexibility is one of the most important components for having a healthy body and having a stretch routine should be a vital part of your life.
Phoenix is offering a once a month stretch class to help motivate you to take what you learned and add it to your exercise routine. Most of us do not get enough stretching in which means lack of flexibility which means a possible injury. To become flexible one must take the time to stretch. Also becoming more flexible is vitally important to have a healthy body. Having a healthy body will not only help you in your daily life but will also help you with your Kung Fu training.
Below Phoenix gives a few reasons why stretching should be part of your kung fu and health routine. We want our Kung Fu students to gain knowledge on why stretching is an important life skill. It will also help you on your Kung Fu path.
Stretching helps improve your range of motion; decreases muscle stiffness and helps with degeneration of joints (along with a holistic diet).
Helps reduce post exercise aches and pains can also help reduce the risk of injury. If you have to make a sudden move (like defend yourself, falling etc.) a flexible muscle is less likely to become injured. Stretching improves your posture therefore the muscles of the lower back, shoulders and chest will have better alignment and this will improve your posture. Stretching is a great way (besides Chi Kung and Forest Bathing) to reduce and manage stress. A well stretched body will hold less tension and can feel less stressed. When someone is chronically tense this tends to cut off their circulation resulting in lack of oxygen and essential nutrients. Stretching reduces muscular tension allowing your muscles to relax which in turn moves the circulation and stagnation allowing more oxygen to mover through your body. Not stretching is like having stuck Chi.
There is no charge for this class it is our gift to our students.
